Château Le Manceau is located on a hill in the commune of Saint-Androny, bordering marshes along the estuary. Patiras and Bouchaud islands can be seen from the estate. StéphaneLesparre manages this family estate, representing a long line of winegrowers in the Blaye region.
The vines consist of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. They are planted at a density of 4500 vines per hectare. Every other row is grassed, while the other half is ploughed and turned aver. The grapes are machine-harvested and sorted at the entrance to the cellar before being put into vats. The cellar is fitted with stainless steel, fibre and cement vats, with a total capacity of 2875 hl. Vatting time is determined by maturity and tasting,.
This vine has a beautiful deep red colour, and still looks young. The bouquet has black cherry, fresh grape, and forest floor aromas. Straightforward on the palate with very smooth tannins.Pleasant aftertaste of black pepper, red fruit, and sweet pepper.
Enjoyable as of now with rabbit fricassee, veal escalope, and pork confit. The wine is also a good accompaniment to Pyrenees cheese or old Gouda.
