The Grands Vins de Gironde company has offered a large selection of quality wines for over a hundred and fifty years. This quality is ensured by a close working relationship between winegrowers and our cellar master. The former contribute their knowledge and love of the viticulture, while the latter lend their expertise in fermentation and ageing. Sauternes is the most famous sweet white wine in the world. The vines benefit from a unique microclimate in autumn, with sunny dry weather during the day alternating with cool fog at night. This is essential for triggering the development of Botrytis cinerea, or “noble rot”.

This barrel-aged Sauternes features a beautiful, brilliant, golden-yellow colour and an attractively fresh bouquet with delightful hints of vanilla, peach, citrus fruit, and honey. Smooth and powerful on the palate, this delicious Sauternes has mandarin orange and quince flavours, and a slightly botrytised aftertaste.

Sauternes is delicious as an aperitif, especially with foie gras and Roquefort cheese on toast. However, it is also a treat with fish in a sauce, seafood au gratin, crab, and asparagus. Furthermore, this fine wine makes a great accompaniment to desserts such as floating island and fruit tarts
