2011 Chateau Gruaud Larose Saint-Julien Bordeaux

The Gourmet Corner

Second Growth. Deuxieme Grand Cru Classe in 1855. Indicative blend: Cabernet Sauvignon 60% and Merlot 30% with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot 10%

Tasting note: As usual Gruaud Larose offers freshness, finesse and elegance even in a tannic vintage like 2011. Very pretty floral notes with violets, cedar and spices in the finish. Great work and selection in the vineyard. Fairly long finish. Tasted in: Bordeaux, France. Maturity: Young. (01-Apr-2012) [Asian Palate Jeannie Cho Lee]

Tasting note: Medium bodied and a little short, but the earthy black and red fruits and soft and clean. The wine finishes with tobacco, herbs, cassis and blackberry. The wine was made from a blend of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc. (16-Feb-2014) [Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider]
