2012 Chateau Larrivet Haut-Brion Rouge Pessac-Leognan Bordeaux
A great Pessac Leognan, medium body with abundant style in the mouth - great price for a Pessac as well if you're getting started in that appellation.
Tasting Notes: A sleeper of the vintage, this 2012 offers up scents of smoked meats, charcuterie, balsam wood, black currants and unsmoked cigar tobacco in a juicy, attractive, medium-bodied, well-made, lush style.
It should drink well for 10-12 years. Wine Advocate - April, 2013
In 1840, the vineyard of Chateau Larrivet Haut-Brion was first mentioned among the first growths of the Pessac-Léognan region.
Located adjacent to the illustrious Haut-Bailly, this estate has an excellent terroir of pure gravelly soil in the southern section of Graves. Larrivet-Haut-Brion is well known in European wine circles but only recently has been seen more often here in America.
Michel Rolland has advised the owners in winemaking and instituted a strict selection process in the vineyard as well as recommending later harvesting for riper fruit character.
