- Located north-west of the city Bordeaux, the Medoc is a triangular-shaped peninsula between the Gironde estuary and the Atlantic Ocean.
A pine forest on the western side serves as a windbreak against ocean winds.
The Medoc vineyards cover a strip of land some 80 km long.
The vineyards are ploughed and grass is left between the vine rows to consolidate the soil and absorb excess humidity.
