Area: haut médoc bordeaux (see Map)
    Appelation: Haut Médoc
Tasting note: The second wine of Château Camensac, this is a classically proportioned left bank claret with attractive savoury fruit on the palate and plenty of grip. Quite robust, full and spicy, it gives pleasure at a reasonable price. Drink this year and next
Food pairing: Beed stew, meat on the bbq and any soft cheeses will complement well this great wine!
Location: Bordeaux France - Haut Medoc
Size of the vineyard / Total Production: 75 hectares
Terroir / Soil: slopes of deep gravel
Age of the vines: 35 years old
Grape varieties: 60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% merlot (avg)
Vinification: 15 months in barrels, 40% of which are replaced each year, and can age for between five and 15 years

  • It was for many years a claret of little interest. However, in 2005 it was bought by Jean Merlaut, one of the wisest men in Bordeaux, and his talented niece Céline Villars-Loubet who owns Chasse-Spleen. Circumstances have improved further still since 2009 when more rigorous production methods were introduced
