A substantial wine with concentrated red and dark fruits wrapped in elegant oak. Flavours of coffee, vanilla and spice mingle with the ripe fruit. This, the second wine of the famous Talbot, is well-structured and excellent value.
Grapes: 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot
Tasting note: Simple light bodied, easy to enjoy second wine of Talbot. Enjoyable while young. Tasted in: Bordeaux, France. Maturity: Drink.
About the House: Still family owned and run by the Cordier, Château Talbot has an enormous single vineyard of a little over 100 hectares in the Saint-Julien appellation, where their vines thrive on gravel soils over an iron-pan subsoil. The wines have historically been rather severe in style when young, but with the ability to soften and develop with age. The more recent vintages are more balanced, but still very elegant, with savoury aromatics and a rich palate.
