Quite robust, full and spicy, it gives pleasure at a reasonable price. Drink this year and next Food pairing: Beed stew, meat on the bbq and any soft cheeses will complement well this great wine! Location: Bordeaux France - Haut Medoc Size of the vineyard / Total Production: 75 hectares Terroir / Soil: slopes of deep gravel Age of the vines: 35 years old Grape varieties: 60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% merlot (avg) Vinification: 15 months in barrels, 40% of which are replaced each year, and can age for between five and 15 years
It was for many years a claret of little interest. However, in 2005 it was bought by Jean Merlaut, one of the wisest men in Bordeaux, and his talented niece Céline Villars-Loubet who owns Chasse-Spleen. Circumstances have improved further still since 2009 when more rigorous production methods were introduced
