Description
These Pastéis de Nata are authentic Portuguese custard tartlets made in Portugal, featuring a rich, creamy egg custard inside an extra crisp, flaky shell. They weigh 2.1 oz each.
Shipped frozen in packs, they offer a traditional cafe experience straight from the oven
These iconic custard tarts trace their origins to the 18th century when monks at Lisbon's Jerónimos Monastery began making them. Because the convents and monasteries relied heavily on egg whites for starching religious habits and clearing wine, they were left with massive amounts of leftover egg yolks, leading to the creation of the famous sweet custard.
- Taste Profile: They offer the perfect balance of a rich, gently sweet filling and a contrasting flaky, blistered crust.
- Convenience: The tarts are pre-baked and frozen for easy prep—simply thaw and reheat or bake until the top is beautifully caramelized to recreate the classic bakery experience.
- Dietary Attributes: They are certified Kosher.
