Description

The Kaluga is 1 of the 4 species of sturgeons that are native to the Russian Amur River, that flows between Russia and China's borders. Also called the 'River Beluga', it's the best option for an excellent caviar at an entry level price. It’s treated with the purest sea salt and processed in rooms with consistent temperature to avoid any possible overheating or over-cooling. We don’t add any additives or preservatives.

Our most impressive Kaluga caviar. A rare selection with only a few tins available every year.

  • Egg size above 3.4mm.
  • Light brown to gold color, and mild nutty taste.
  • Ideal for special occasions, photoshoots, or privileged guests.

The Imperial marriage of the Kaluga (a close cousin of the Beluga sturgeon) and Shassetra sturgeons has resulted in an incredible caviar that delights experts across the globe. This hybrid caviar has an exquisite balance, making it the choice for those who prefer a nutty, fruity, well-balanced taste comparable to the potent brine of traditional breeds.

Enjoying the Kaluga Imperial Huso Hybrid Caviar begins by observing the various shades of deep brown amber with beautiful shades of jade. Upon placing these beautiful eggs on your palate, you will immediately taste the floral and fruity notes. As with all our Kaluga Imperial Caviars, the finish is exceptionally long-lasting.

Here are a few basic rules if you’re truly into caviar decadence:

▪️ Store your tin of caviar in the back of the refrigerator. Typically, the back of the refrigerator is the coldest part, which will help preserve the flavor and texture of the caviar (26-35 F). It will last for up to 6 weeks in the refrigerator when the container is unopened.

▪️ Use a bone, crystal, or mother-of-pearl spoon to handle the caviar. To preserve the flavor, only use coated dishes and spoons when you're serving caviar. Avoid serving the caviar with a metal spoon or dish, as the delicacy will absorb the metal flavors.

▪️ Purchase at least 1 oz (30 g) of caviar for every 1-2 people. Although caviar is meant to be served in small portions, you still want to make sure you have enough to enjoy!

▪️ Air is caviar’s largest enemy: if not entirely consumed, please cover the entire surface of the tin with plastic film. The remaining caviar should be consumed within the next 2-3 days.
